While this blog’s focus is on my genealogy work, tools and historical context, I thought it would be a good idea to have a page with my professional information as well. You can find more details at my LinkedIn profile.
John used to be a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), but with those certs showing little value over time, his Time & Cost to Maintain vs Value Risk Assessment™ led him to let them lapse in 2013. I think it was a Tuesday.
With more than 25 years experience in information systems and security, John doesn’t think that should be held against him. Even if he is writing this in the third person.
I have also attained the National Security Agency certificate in Information Assessment Methodology (IAM) and Information Evaluation Methodology (IEM).
I have been very active in Information and Infrastructure Security circles including my role as a Founder and Executive Vice President of the New York Metro InfraGard Member Alliance, an FBI program whose mission is information sharing and the security of critical infrastructure.
In 2007 I was awarded a commendation by the FBI for “Exceptional Service in the Public Interest” signed by Director Robert S. Mueller III.
